Have you ever though what dog service really is? A dog used for assistance is commonly known as service dog. Service dogs are usually used in order to help those people with visual or hearing disabilities. Traits that should be present with these dogs are trainability, good behavior, good physical health and structure and bendability. There are several organizations that specifically train service dogs. These dogs who are used for dig service usually came from charitable breeders or from rescue shelters. Service dogs can be mixed race too as long as they have all the needed traits. because of the duties that these dogs perform, they are usually placed in the working animal category. After all, these dogs are the ones who are responsible for the safety and health of the owner. Good service dog training is a must. When these dogs wear their service gears, they opt to get distracted, thus, they need to be trained well in order for them to avoid distractions. However, even though some people would think that these dogs are furious, they opt to get more relaxed and friendly once their gears were removed from them. These dogs can be very serious and they ignore people when they are on their duty.
It is already common to different dog trainings to train puppies before they turn into an adult dog. Usually, these puppies are trained first as domestic dogs and live in foster families. When these dogs are already old enough, they will undergo the training called advance service training. Another good thing about trainings is that, they are trained to become more comfortable with people, they opt to interact with people when they are still puppies regardless of age, gender, mode of dress, and even disability. They are also trained on how to behave in the presence of other dogs and other animals. The usual behavior of dogs are the start of their basic trainings, which includes riding in cars, sitting down, staying, coming when called, and toilet trainings.
These puppies will undergo basic trainings in their foster homes, and after that, they will be evaluated in their twelfth and eighteen month. If they exhibit good performance and good psychological status they are further trained to become service dogs. However, if the dog will not pass the qualifications, then they will still have their own purpose since they will be transferred to other organizations so that they can still continue serve others as custom dogs, or as police dogs.
